Meet the Team!

We are a group of three hardworking students in our 12º.grade, our last year in High school before University. In the beginning, we were confused and unsettled about our choice of subject since we could choose some subjects for our last year. And we chose CLT, thanks to our English Teacher who explained to us the concept of CLT. CLT is basically a subject that uses the type of work that is being current used in Universities, is just making researches and then make projects with our research. It seems easy but it can be harder than you think.

Our High School is "Secundária de Mem Martins", and we are in a class of really good students with great skills, so we couldn't do nothing, we had to work harder than ever, and this subject thaught us that hard work is in fact worth it. In the end is worth it all of the problems and challenges that we have been through. And we are proud of ourselves for everything, personnaly we didn't think that we would make it this far, and we have to appreciate not only ourselves for our work but the teachers as well for helping us along the way.

We learned technologic skills as well as language skills, that we couldn't learn somewhere else. We learned and evolved to be the best of ourselves thanks to this subject. Before, we were confused but now we know what we are doing, and we are ready for the future that waits ahead.

Thanks to this unique experience we could know ourselves better than we ever did.

Individual Presentation

Tomás Taborda:

Well, my name is Tomás dos Santos Taborda, at the moment I'm 18 and I´m a student at the Mem Martins Secondary School. I'm part of the Science and Technology Studies course and I am currently on the 12th grade and I am part of the mysterious but interesting CLT subject. I believe that I am a hard-working student, I always had good grades and I am certainly a polite but playful person once in a while.

About the future, I don't have idea of who I want to be and it is quite disturbing even for myself; but let’s see what the future has saved for me. I'm an indecisive person and this is reflected in my ideas for the future itself. I want to try to get the best grades I can get so that I can see and analyze the possible choices that I have at the moment; I would like to go to a university if possible the "Técnico". I also want to have a job that pays well in order to not only pay for my necessities but I also want to try to help my parents in each and every way possible, in these hard times, especially now with the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to earn a little bit of money to help them, just as they helped me; I am who I am today thanks to them and there is no question about it at all, and I would like to return the favor.

My problem is trying to figure out which course should be the best for me and which one I would like the most; and there is my big problem again: indecision.

I consider myself a charismatic and curious person, who tries to do his best in the diverse tasks asked by the teacher; I try to be creative and add something new to the project. Like everyone else, I also have flaws; I am a bit lazy and I am easily distracted, but that does not mean that I don't focus when I need to.

However, I want to improve and I want to improve not only in school but also in my flaws.

Gonçalo Pardal:

Hello, my name is Gonçalo da Fonseca Pardal, I'm 17 and I´m a student at the Mem Martins Secondary School. I'm part of the Science and Technology Studies course and I am currently on the 12th grade. I consider myself a lazy student, but when I see my mind to something I can almost every time make something out of it.

About the future, I have set my mind in Robotics, I got fascinated in this area when I discovered “Spot” from Boston Dynamics, and since then I’m trying to pursue Robotics as a career. I’ll enlist in “Universidade Nova de Lisboa” or “Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa”, I’m not entirely sure on what course I’ll be choosing but that’s for the future me to decide.

On Portugal, Robotics is not a good choice for the future since there aren’t that much job opportunities, if I have to leave the country so be it, I didn’t want to do it since I can’t live without my little sister but well it’s my choice to decide. Now talking about me as a person, as I have said I’m lazy and so I prefer to be cozy on my bed than be proactive, but then there’s an entirely different side I have and that’s when I’m playing volleyball because I turn into a proactive, energetic and active person.

I think I care to much about others and don’t think about myself so I tend to hurt myself trying to help others, I’m also to dependent on the love, I can’t be alone for a long time. I hope I can be of any help on this project since my ideas are out of the box.

Rodrigo Santos:

Hi, I’m Rodrigo Santos and I’m currently studing at Escola Secundária de Mem Martins. I’m on 12th grade almost going to the University, I don’t really have a fixated course I want to go but I have a few which is better than nothing. I’ll try getting a reserved spot at “Universidade Nova de Lisboa” if the worse happens I will go to “Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa” or join the military academy.

Honestly, I’m lazy and I like being lazy, however there were times when I thought that being lazy wasn’t healthy for my studies at all. After I finish University, I have one more goal, the first is leaving the country and go to England or the Netherlands or if I can get a good salary while working in Portugal then I’ll just stay at my home land. But the best that could happen to me would have to be being a professional Volleyball player.

I love Volleyball it’s the sport I love, I only wish I could have started practicing earlier so I could have a bigger chance of making my life on it.
